Has ANYONE tried to smooth out the trigger pull one these post-recall guns other than by dry-firing them ? I know the Kel-Tec's have a slew of friction points that can be polished I'm thinking maybe the LCP has similar parts that could be tweaked a bit...

Do you have any concerns about dry firing? It is cheap and effective in smoothing the trigger. Combined with a LaserGuard it is a cheap and effective way of maintaining trigger discipline as well.

5 Snap caps (which cost about the same as a box of 50 range rounds) alleviate my concerns re: dry firing.  In 4 days I probably got 200 trigger pulls (for the $15.95)

Looks like I better get some snap caps then...

Probably just needs to break in a bit but I figured if there were a couple of "notorious" roughly made pieces I could polish I'd go for it. Keep hearing horro stories about dry firing and the pivot piece breaking.

If the pivot point on your trigger is going to break I can't think of a better time than when I'm sitting in my living room dry firing it at inanimate objects that aren't going to shoot back or charge at me with a screw driver.

then do it and don't worry about what anyone else tells you, If it breaks Ruger will fix it.  Snap caps just seems like the proper thing to practice with, one can practice the tap/rack/bang stuff with a magazine full of snap caps also.  Being the drift pin goes allthe way through the slide, I would  not assume you would get the kind of excessive wear that the kt's have in dry firing their 380 with just a screw holding the firing pin in place. Dry firing will beat those screws to death on the kt's,--been there and done it..

Like chicken soup, snap caps may not help, but they couldn't hurt.

you can completely disasemble the lcp and smooth out the trigger bar and the hammer and hammer block, it will help some, but IMO not worth the effort. I did it to my kt's and really didn't notice much difference,  More rounds down range will do the same thing IMO.  again not a match gun.  the looooooong trigger is there by design.  It is ur only safety.

if   its gonna break, you have no control over that, u can worry yourself to death over it or just shoot it like u stole it and let the chips fall where they may....

Ruger says the same thing about my Blackhawks, but I still load Snap Caps when I'm not live firing.

When mine came back, I noticed that the reset point was a lot further forward than it was when I sent it out.  There also appears to be two clicks on reset.  The first click doesn't reset it and locks the trigger (it can't be pulled back) and the second click resets it.

Now I'm going to have to start the practice routine all over again.

I'm one of those "If it's gonna happen, it'll happen to me" guys. Looked in my manual to see what Ruger's policy was and didn't see anything about it, yay or nay. But I think I'll be cautious as shipping guns is a major pain (and expense).
