Is Prvi Partizan JHP 380 good to go for self-defense?  Has any testing been done on this round?

PRVI FMJ is good stuff, but I haven't come across JHP yet.

I have fired some of the .380 in ball not JHP.  It cycled fine through the LCP.

Ammo to go had a good price on Prvi Partizan JHP a few months ago.
I bought 200 rounds, it is good quality ammo, my LCP likes it.

I'm holding you to that.

Just bought 300 rounds of it.

Does anyone have any ballistic data on this ammo?  Gel or otherwise?

Can't find anything on it.

...according to this reference it's 951/188:

http://www.targetsportsusa.com/p-2374-prvi-partizan-handgun-ammunition-380-auto-acp-94-grain-jacketed-hollow-point-box-of-50.aspx

I can't vouch for the authenticity of the data.

Thanks Tarheel.

I'd like to see how they perform in gel, or even wet pack... heck even water / back yard testing.

I went through a couple of boxes of Monarch JHP a few months ago. Monarch is the "store brand" for Academy Sports, but it's really just Prvi Partizan in a different box. When I got my targets home a piece of copper jacket that was stuck to the paper fell off one of the targets. Here's a post I made about it back then:

http://elsiepeaforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=9133.msg79733#msg79733

I'm not sure I'd trust it for carry purposes, but I DID carry it for a few weeks anyway until I finally broke down and bought some Gold Dot from Cabelas.com.
The Monarch JHP fed perfectly, by the way.

I'll third the "no issues with feeding" motion.

Even on brand new pistols.

I'm still curious as to how it performs in gel, but my susp ici ons lead to it not doing a whole hell of a lot at all.
Shot some jugs with it and got a pretty FMJ response out of them.

Being that was water, and should artificially increase expansion... I still don't think they did.  I was not set up to recover them so I can only gauge the impact result as a clue to how they perform.

Could it be any worse than FMJ?  At $14.95 a box, the price is rather attractive.

Sincerely doubt it.  If hp doesn't open it's basically fmj.  Unless it hangs up in your gun, I can't see any down side?

I got two boxes two weeks ago, It functions fine in my LCP, BUT the JHP do not open up, from what I see in wood or wet news paper,  Bullet looks like you could reload it and shoot it again, I,m waiting on some fragmentation ammo for mine,

Have put a couple of boxes of Prvi Partizan through my LCP, with no problems at all and it seemed to be a clean burner.

From what I have been told at one local gun store, Privi Partizan is a quality ammo manufacturer.  But sorry, do not have any specs for them.
